Colombian Migration

This website is a resource of the Research Group on Human Mobility of the Network of Public Universities of the Coffee Region, Alma Mater (www.almamater.edu.co). This network is composed by the 10 higher education institutions located in the Colombian eco-region that owes its name to the important role that coffee production plays in it. This eco-region comprises the states of Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, north-western Tolima and the north of the state of Valle del Cauca.The Group on Human Mobility focuses on research related to the migration phenomena, especially international migration from the Colombian Coffee Region.In addition, the group promotes the design of public policies and actions that attend to the social demands generated by the migration phenomena linking when possible; the universities of the Alma Mater Network.

What do we aim at?

Through this website, the Research Group on Human Mobility aims to:

• Promote knowledge about Colombian migration, in particular about its international diaspora; by publishing academic research and facilitating access to it.
  
  
• Contribute to the public policy debate around the Colombian migration phenomenon and promote the participation of migrants in their design and implementation.
  
  
• Create research links for the execution of our own projects and that of other groups with similar interests which we can support.
